Home Description
Description of the home
Light-filled, elevated and calm, with high ceilings, polished floors, spacious rooms, ducted heating. Spacious, fully equipped retro kitchen with gas oven. Laundry and storage shed out back. Backyard is small, secure and manageable with back deck, garden planted up and lovingly tended over the years.
Shared spaces are fully furnished and thoughtfully styled — plants, art, clean surfaces, and good energy. The lounge doubles as a creative workspace with Aimee’s jewellery bench, Alice’s study area, and room for your own desk. We use the TV occasionally (mostly for docos). Hallway offers space for everyone’s bookshelves.
Long-term sharehouse – lease is renewed annually in August. We have a good relationship with the real estate and there’s been rare and minimal rent increases

Artist/jeweller + zoo safari guide. Outgoing and creative, I split my time between a very fun public-facing job for Zoos Vic (yes you will hear ridiculous animal stories lol) and a home-based creative practice. When at home, I can be found at my jewellery bench, pottering in the garden, or sewing, with best mate Zywa by my side. I value meaningful conversation, space to think & make, and living with people who are self-aware and steady.
Alice (she/her, 34, white settler, queer)
I’m a PhD student, sci-fi enthusiast, and caregiver. The PhD explores relations between anti-colonial academics, Australian universities, & conservative political actors in the 18 months following 7 October 2023. I’m a nerd at heart, so love reading, sewing, sauna, & drinking strong cups of tea. I share lots of energy with people & anti-colonial movements outside the house & think of home as a safe(r) place to rest & recharge. I’m also vegetarian.
Zywa: A 12yo black Burmese cat. Indoor-only, leash-trained, affectionate & adored. Zywa is an indoor cat who only goes outside on a leash under supervision. Keeping her safe is essential. It is a must that we live with someone who is conscientious to not leave doors open & pull them closed to latch, and interacts with kindness. In return, she’ll gain the affection of a furry darling who has touched the hearts of many.
Home Culture:
We are warm, welcoming, emotionally intelligent adults who value a clean, calm, & grounded home life. We are socially aware, autonomous & respectful of others space/time. Whilst we appreciate some social aspects of shared living, we keep things fairly quiet at home, & value a calm space to recharge in. As we tend to prefer to socialise away from home, this isn’t a party house or neighbourhood hangout zone — it’s a peaceful space to recharge, reflect, & enjoy occasional shared meals or cuppa when they naturally arise, & laughs in the kitchen.
We:
• Tidy up after ourselves, keeping shared spaces clean, beautiful & well-organised, while also sharing a few key weekly cleaning tasks on rotation. As a result, the house is generally always in a beautiful state & a joy to come home to.
• Communicate directly, kindly, & with accountability
• Are considerate to one another with sound, time & energy
• Expect shared responsibility for cleaning & bills
• Pay rent/bills on time & secure the house when leaving
• Aim to live lightly — composting, reducing waste, avoiding harsh/stinky cleaning chemicals
We like to live with people who are:
• In their mid 30’s or 40’s (woman, trans, non-binary person or queer man)
• Houseproud, naturally clean and tidy, with a collaborative approach to maintaining a well-cared for home, including sharing household chores
• Someone who values clear communication, are comfortable raising issues if/as they arise, and has experience in balancing independent and shared living
• Able to pay rent and bills on time, reliable with locking doors and windows, and are a non-smoker
• Kind to animals and absolutely conscientious with cat safety (it’s non-negotiable)
• Queer, disability, neurodiverse, and SW friendly and support Indigenous and Palestinian justice
• Not essential that you have a creative practice, but if you do, creative chats are a welcome joy
