Home Description

Description of the home

The house polished floorboards, nice natural light, open plan living room, dining and kitchen area, sunroom and laundry at the back of the house.

Bathroom has a (small) bath and separate shower, and the toilet is separate.

Ducted heating, aircon on the living room, modern kitchen with dishwasher and large stove.

Good-sized secure front and back yards with lots of sun all year round, and a huge secure garage for storage and tinkering.

House is fully furnished (other than the available room) but if you have furniture we could see what we could do to make it work.

We are a 10 minute walk to Strathmore train station, from there it is an 22 min trip to Flagstaff station. Buses also run along Moreland Rd and Reynard Street towards Sydney Rd and beyond. There is off-street parking for more one car (although some car tetris involved), or unlimited street parking.

The neighbourhood is wonderfully peaceful and quiet, and we are super close to some lovely green spaces along Moonee Ponds creek.

About occupants
Alex (she/her): I work full-time in a job I’m passionate about. I have a hybrid office / work from home arrangement of 3 office/2 home days. I live a pretty quiet life during the week - lots of walks with Teddy, pilates in the garage (I have a reformer machine there). I love camping and being outdoors, scuba diving, live music and bingeing dark/dystopian/action/ drama tv shows. My toxic trait is that I'm a mad Collingwood supporter.

Frank (he/him): I work full-time as a satellite network engineer, and love bouldering, swing dancing and cooking. Quiet body at home but social most evenings.

We both love a good FB marketplace bargain, tinkering with home improvements, gardening (except the weeding part) and chilling out together or separately at home.
Compatible people
Our home is:
- peaceful and calm
- clean and generally tidy (within reasonable limits, we know life isn’t always picture perfect)
- welcoming to guests without being a party house (well, maybe the odd party...)
- a safe and welcoming home for LGBTIQA+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, lived-experience of mental health folks of all backgrounds
- ideally shared with people who have similar values who want to have a laugh (Teddy is hilariously weird and entertaining), enjoy a meal or a beer, and co-exist positively and non-judgmentally

Our ideal housemate is:
- aged 25+ and has previous sharehouse experience
- kind, friendly, considerate and open-minded
- committed to maintaining home environment as a safe and welcoming place for us all
- loves dogs and can be relied on to keep Teddy safe by shutting gates etc
- not a couple (sorry, the shared spaces would get too crowded)
- does not have pets
Description of pets
Teddy is an 8 year old mini schnauzer (a non-shedding breed). He is a bit of a weirdo - a bit reserved at first, but once you get to know him he’s funny, cheeky and cute. He does bark at strangers (and the postie) when I'm around but I do actively manage this, and he's very chill when I'm not around. Ideally my housemates love dogs and are willing to build a relationship with Teddy, help out with feeding him and even take him for the occasional walk. Basically you’ll get all the fun parts of living with a dog, without the responsibility! Unfortunately he doesn't vibe well with cats.
