Home Description
Description of the home
Instead of living in a tiny apartment by myself, I decided to get a large 3 level dream house on a ridge with expansive views to share.
I have lived in shared arrangements most of my life (Germany, USA, Australia) and setup the house for stress-free living with two dishwashers, washing machines, everyone has their own bathroom, cleaner for common areas and your rooms (not your clutter though).
The bedrooms are very quiet (apart from the birds!) with large sliding glass doors to the garden, AC and really nice bathrooms. The garden is not ready at all, yet, as I am working on getting a lap pool! If you like gardening... :-)
There is a nice large deck off the living area and huge terrasse on the 3rd level with great views. Actually, there are views from the small bedrooms, kitchen and living area as well as there is lots of glass and we sit on top of a ridge = great for afternoon breezes.
It is possible to get around by bus, but quality of life requires car / roller etc. If you intend to spend a lot of time in the city, this would NOT be a good location for you. For access to MT-Cootha forest running and MTB tracks it is great. Getting to the gorgeous 3-fingers route for road bike is also easy.
I am flexible with moving out on very short notice if you find something more suitable in between. There are potentially two rooms available, both with ensuite.
1 large room with queen size bed, office table and large ensuite.
1 small room with double size bed, small office table and small ensuite.
Perfect for people just moving to Brisbane and requiring a base to find their permanent home.
We got cleaners coming in once a week and two dishwashers ensure that the kitchen is never cluttered.
The house is still a bit of a renovation project in parts (driveway, carport, pool NOT ready, yet).

I don’t smoke and only drink occasionally in social settings. The house is best suited to someone who values a calm, respectful living space—so no smoking, drugs, or wild parties. A low-stress, considerate atmosphere is important, and if it feels like a good fit, I’m open to discussing rent flexibility.
I tend to live quite spontaneously, so planning shared meals isn’t easy, but I’m always happy to join in if we're cooking or eating around the same time. In general, I think the house feels more welcoming when flatmates make the effort to interact rather than keeping completely to themselves. That said, everyone also values their own downtime and personal space.
There’s a large shared living area with lovely views toward Mt Coot-tha that works well for both socialising and working from home. Also living in the house are two (male and female) friendly PhD students in their early 30s. We all work full-time and tend to keep fairly early schedules, so evenings are always quiet.
I'm aiming for a balanced dynamic in the house and would prefer to rent this room to a female, simply to maintain that mix. “Mature” for me is more about attitude than age—respectful, independent, and open to sharing a home in a thoughtful way.
If this sounds like it could suit you, I’m open to short stays at first, with flexibility around notice if your plans change.
