Other information
Available is the master bedroom. It is located upstairs at the front of the house. The room is south facing (meaning that it stays cooler than the other bedrooms in summer), has a large private balcony (perfect for a cup of tea in the morning) and a big built in wardrobe. You could quite easily fit a queen size bed, desk and other misc furniture (a bookcase or side table etc).

Home Description

Description of the home

We love our house. It is in a great location close to Redfern station (about a 3 minute walk) and Sydney uni (great for a walk or jog) and walking distance to Prince Alfred Park (including the pool), Victoria Park (including the pool), Central Park (cinemas!) and the Chippo Hotel. It is opposite several cafes and a laundry/dry cleaning joint, which is fab if it is raining and you need your sheets washed.

We have a car and a council parking permit (you would be eligible for one too) and have never had trouble getting a park nearby (either right out the front or on the street behind).

The house itself is a two story terrace which was re-painted and upstairs re-carpeted before we moved in a little over a year ago. Unlike a lot of terraces, it has a modern kitchen (electric stovetop though - sorry!) and bathroom both of which are bright and sunny. The living room is has lovely floorboards and cool exposed brick arches. There's also a lovely little courtyard out the back (I'm sitting here as I type!) with garden beds and plenty of space for more plants if you are so inclined.

Expect to feel like you are living in more of a home than a share house.

Home features

  • Ceiling fans
  • Broadband Internet

Bills and expenses

Internet is $24pp/month; electricity ranges and is split equally (we don't have gas - water and stove are electric). When we are not in lock down, we also get a cleaner in every fortnight which comes to $30 each - this is great because there are fewer chores to negotiate between us.

About occupants
You will be living with Jason and Carley. We're both in our early thirties and enjoy a mix of home life and socialising (when it's allowed). We also both speak decent (Jason) or beginner (Carley) French!

Jason is a lawyer at an app company you've probably heard of. He is an avid fencer (foil) so you'll sometimes hear him shuffling around in the courtyard working on his footwork.

Carley is also a lawyer, but is currently doing a PhD and some university teaching. She is a sewing enthusiast, and has a telescope that she sometimes cracks out in the courtyard.

We both work from home during lockdown, Jason in the bedroom and Carley in the living room at her desk under the stairs, and we cook probably 4 or 5 nights a week.
Compatible people
Jason says - A baseline of human decency. I value being open more than good banter.
Carley says - Be willing to play mario kart or super smash with me sometimes!
