Home Description

Description of the home

A hundred metre walk to trams that take you into the city, otherwise the CBD is just a 20 minute bike ride (with bikes available here for use). A couple hundred metres from Puckle Street shopping strip and the bus depot. Our home has a tremendous back yard with fig, apricot, persimmon, nectarine, pear and lemon trees as well as lots of garden space with healthy growing vegetables. We have a few sheds for storage, one now turned into a sculpture workshop. We also offer the use of a painting studio, a large kitchen with all the amenities you could ask for, a piano, sewing machine station and type-writer.

The house-mates are a all friendly and respectful students or artists that are happy to accomodate anyone. A renter will be free to change the space as the wish, as long as it is respectful and understood to be temporary. Dinners are often shared and movies are often watched together. But if you want privacy and more alone time there is the space in the house for that. I find the quiet of the neighbourhood and the birds that often come into the yard a very relaxing and necessary balance to the chaos of the city.

About occupants
Daen and Bell are a couple that take up two rooms in the house. I grew up with Daen in the sunshine coast. He is charming 25yr old man that is incredibly funny, generous and open to talking about anything with anyone. He is also respectful of privacy and understanding of all people's different choices of lifestyle. He is into writing, art, psychology, video games, cooking and living happily. Bell moved in with us last year. She is from Thirroul, is a 25yr old woman, and writes poetry, studies political sciences (without much interest in it) and loves to join Daen on long walks and cooking adventures. They make delicious soups, slow cooked meals, pies, desserts, and have pretty much been feeding me for the last three months.

Libby will be moving in soon as another room is up for rent by my friend who will be travelling overseas with me. She is in her earlier twenties and plays beautiful music in a local band. I don't know her super well but she seems quite funny, lighthearted and curious.
Compatible people
I think respect is the key quality for a flatmate. No matter what lifestyle you may live I know my housemates will respect you, and so I believe they should get that same respect. Also, respect for this old, beautiful house that is full of memories and generations of love. You don't need to be an outgoing person or a creative type to live here, but I do feel you need to be respectful of extroverts and introverts alike, as well as people doing slightly strange things at times haha.
Description of pets
Shenzi is Daen's gorgeous cat. If you get close to her she will lick your face.
