Home Description

Description of the home

Hi, I’m Mel. I am an active and outgoing woman in my 40’s looking for a new housemate to join me in my Keilor East home.

This is a unique opportunity because I am provided funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to enable me to live independently in the community. This means I receive funding to subsidise the rent of my housemate in return for a level of informal support. This looks like light verbal prompting for domestic tasks around the house, sharing some meals together, and maintaining strong communication. During the week, I have support workers who will come to the home to support me with various aspects of my life too.

If you interested in living with me, please send a message with a little bit about yourself and why to Michaela (who is helping me find a flatmate).

About occupants
Hi, I’m Mel. I am an active and outgoing woman in my 40’s looking for a new housemate to join me in my Keilor East home. Throughout the week I work in a local op shop, work on my pottery practice, and attend local classes. I’m a social person and I love to keep busy; I can be found enjoying coffee or wine locally and indulging in my hobbies. I am passionate about animals, music, arts and craft, horse riding and travelling when I can.
Compatible people
I am looking for a housemate who understands the value of making a house a home. The ideal person is social, has good communication skills, and a sense of humour. I want to live with someone who wants to cultivate a home where we can have a laugh, enjoy meals together and relax. It is important to me that you have self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and good boundaries. If you are tidy, reliable, and mindful of costs this could be the right home for you!
