Live in au pair/home helper wanted in exchange for accommodation and allowance

We are seeking a female looking to help with our 16-month-old son as well as assist with some light house duties (laundry, watering the garden etc), in exchange for accommodation and a weekly allowance.

We’re a friendly Cairns-based family looking for a live-in au pair or home helper to support us while I recover from a spinal injury. Our toddler attends daycare full-time, but mornings, afternoons and general household tasks are a challenge right now.

We’re hoping to find someone caring and capable to lend a hand — ideally for at least 1 month, with the option to extend up to 3 months. This role is low-pressure, flexible and ideal for someone independent who enjoys spending time with toddlers and helping keep a home running smoothly. Childcare experience is a plus.

🕰 Support Needed:

Mornings (approx. 06:30am start)
– Help with toddler’s morning routine (breakfast, getting dressed, packing bag)
– Daycare drop-off by 8:00am
– Quick tidy-up of kitchen and living areas

Afternoons:
– General tidy-up, laundry or light food prep
– Daycare pick-up at 4:30pm
– Supervise play, help with toddler dinner, bath or wind-down routine

Additional flexible support (spread across the week):
– Food preparation (toddler meals, assisting with family dinners)
– Folding laundry, unloading dishwasher, tidying toys
– Watering the garden, keeping the outdoor play area neat and clean
– Light vacuuming/sweeping, changing sheets, occasional errands
– Occasional evening babysitting (as needed and with notice)
– General help keeping the home clean and organised
