Home Description

Description of the home

I am offering one bedroom in my 2-bedroom unit, located in the leafy, quiet Argyle Street in West Footscray.

Everything is fully furnished and ready to live in. All cooking equipment, white goods, linen, etc., will be available.

It's a really good location just moments away from the main strip in West Footscray, including:-
- a 90-second walk from two bus stops (the 216 and 220 are frequent, direct city routes),
- 1k to two train stations (West Footscray and Tottenham),
- 2 minute walk to the restaurants, cafes and bars on Barkly Street, and a new dog park,
- 5 minutes walk to the supermarket (a newly refurbished IGA)
- 1 minute walk to Dumbo Cafe, 3 mins to Brother Nancy & Migrant Cafe (all serve great coffee).

The room comes fully furnished, as per the photos.
The house is fully equipped with a good kitchen, pots / pans, fridge freezer, washing machine - so this would be ideal for someone staying in a backpackers, or someone travelling - short or long term.

There is fast WiFi internet, NBN broadband unlimited included in the cost.

No pets or parties, the house is always kept clean and tidy.

The unit is right next to a primary school, and the area is very safe and friendly. The neighbours here are young professionals who are probably the best part of living in this area. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. It's quiet, but really close to everything.

We are a short cycle away from VU (both campuses), and a 7 minute walk to the Footscray Hospital.

As testimonies go, the last housemate who lived with me liked the place so much, he ended up buying a unit on the same block and is now my neighbour. :-)

About the occupants
Hello!
I'm Chris, 37, and work in local government full time. I am half English (from Cornwall) but have lived in Australia for the last 10 years.
I travel whenever I can, be it trips away down the coast over the weekend, or longer trips whenever I can get the time, so there will be frequent periods where you will have the house to yourself from time to time.
I love cooking and experimenting with food and new meals. I would usually make enough food to share with a house mate.
I try and keep fit. I like sport (watching and playing). I do Parkrun every Saturday morning, and cycling is my main mode of transport.
I am clean and easy to live with, and have lived in a shared house in some form or another since I was at uni.

I like a beer / whisky in the evenings (usually when I am cooking dinner), but my heavy party days are behind me now.

I have lived in a few shared houses since university and in recent years. I am the sort of house mate who would communicate frequently and clearly. I will always message ahead if I had a friend over for dinner and am very considerate of living with other people.

I am very fair and easy going, and I am seeking someone similar to live with.
Compatible people
I am not an obsessive 'clean-freak', but I do like the common areas of the house to be kept clean and tidy. This is really important that the person who lives here is also clean and tidy.

I am easy going and get along with most people. If you are the same, that would be great.

It's important to me that you are happy and comfortable, so I would value having constant feedback on anything I can be doing better as a flat mate. I am also a big believer in not locking in to any long term contracts, so I if you wanted to move on and live elsewhere, I am always happy to be flexible. I am looking at several months leave from work soon, during which time I will be away from the house, so you will have the whole place to yourself. If you can keep my plants alive in this time, this would be greatly appreciated (no pressure!) :-)
